A class for beginner-level learning about Jewish culture and the Jewish religion. This class is intended for those interested in converting to Judaism and their partners, as well as any other individuals who want to learn the basics of Jewish living, belief, and thought.

If there are no Intro to Judaism classes listed below, classes may be full or we may be in the middle of a learning cycle, please email rabbi@nhs-cba.org to be added to the waiting list for the next round of classes.

Thursday with Klau Library- Hebrew Calligraphy

Thursday, Jun 27th 10:00a to 11:15aExplore the history of Hebrew writing styles and calligraphy! Join the Klau Library on a virtual tour of the many writing styles unique to the different regions where Jews lived, including Italy, Spain, Germany, Yemen, and China. The program will also include learning to write a sample in each of these lettering styles. This is a unique class that is a part of the 6-month class series from the Klau Library. Every fourth Thursday of the month.

Rabbi Sam Schapera's Installation Gala

Sunday, Jul 14th 7:00p to 9:30pWe invite you to join us for Rabbi Sam Schapera's Installation Gala. ' A cocktail hour will be before the installation ceremony, followed by an after-party. Doors open at 6:45 PM Associate Rabbi Sam Schapera is a native of Cleveland, Ohio and moved to Cincinnati in 2009 to attend the University of Cincinnati. After receiving her bachelor’s degrees in Judaic Studies and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, she worked as an STNA (State Tested Nurse’s Aide) at Cedar Village. She moved to Jerusalem in 2014 to begin her rabbinic studies before moving back to Cincinnati in 2015. She was ordained in 2019. Rabbi Schapera loves being with the community at NHS and sharing her passions for the Jewish community. She lives in Montgomery with her husband, three children, and a cat.
